A Heart of Thanksgiving

It’s a quiet morning and the kids are still sleeping (I say kids, but they are technically
adults). I am attempting to write my first blog for the second time – which is funny
for someone who usually has no lack for words!
We celebrated Thanksgiving just a couple of days ago and had a wonderful day with
family. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it is time spent in the
kitchen with the women in the family, preparing and laughing together. The table
is beautifully spread and we all join together in the spirit of being thankful for all
the good things God has done for us. We take time eating this meal, sharing and
reminiscing from long ago, reviewing the events of the year and looking ahead to the
promises of a bright future.
After the meal, as tradition is, we take a long walk and then return to the house to
have pumpkin pie and coffee and watch a movie or play games. This year we did
both. We watched Santa Clause and played charades. It was so funny!
As we rise to the challenges life presents and as we run towards our goal, may we
never forget to count all of our blessings. A grateful heart honors God. He is the
giver of life and the source of everything that we need. A heart of thanksgiving to
God is evidence of our faith and trust in Him.
Let’s give thanks to God. He is good and his love never quits!

One thing we have always done if to share what we are thankful for, and why we are thankful for these things. I shared I was thankful for my five senses, I know some who have lost use of one or more of them. I have cousin who has gone blind, an aunt who had amputations because of diabetes so lost touch. Sharing, and thanking...a good combination.
