2010

God has been so good to us in 2010.  It is such an honor to serve in the House of the Lord!  I love the way the Message translation puts it, “One day spent in your house, this beautiful place of worship, beats thousands spent on Greek island beaches. I'd rather scrub floors in the house of my God than be honored as a guest in the palace of sin. “ Psalms 84:10 (MSG)

We so value and appreciate all those who love to serve in God’s house too! We have had an amazing year at Oak Valley Church and we are filled with heart gratitude to all those who have been committed to seeing the purpose and vision of our church come to pass.

In 2010 we have seen about 1,000 people receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. We have provided almost 4,000 weeks supply of groceries to families in need. We gave about 230 Christmas boxes to needy children through Operation Christmas Child. We have helped to meet the needs of many with benevolence. We have provided fresh drinking water for about 1,000 people in Africa for the year. We have supported missionaries all over the world with resources and prayer. We purchased a new campus, which will give opportunity for increased ministry and impact our community in greater measure. Lives have been changed, hearts have been encouraged and the Word has empowered many people to live overcoming lives. All of these great measures could not have happened without you, loving people who are planted in the house of the Lord.

Psalms 92:13-14 says, “Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing.” It is so amazing to me that as we plant ourselves, that means to get connected, to get involved, to serve wherever we can, that we are blessed.  As we serve in our local church, our lives flourish and we bear fruit personally. In 1 Kings 10, the Queen of Sheba mentions how the servants of the house are happy. It is a joy and a privilege to serve, not only because our own lives prosper, but also because we are a part of great eternal purposes.

Thank you for your commitment to serving in ministry at Oak Valley Church. Every ministry is so important – greeters, ushers, children’s workers, nursery workers, hospitality, choir, worship, musicians, tech crew, camera crew, prayer team, parking lot teams, small group teachers, translators, outreach teams and more. Thank you for “Loving People to Life.”

As Psalms 92 says, may your life flourish and prosper in 2011 as you continue in your faithfulness to God’s house and his purpose.
